OUr Story



Key Support Services Inc. was founded in 1995 by Karlene Williams, supported by a team of staff, close friends, and associates. 

Key Support Services Inc. became incorporated, February 21, 1996, and focused on providing “Key” Services that would unlock barriers for individuals with developmental disabilities living in community settings and for the people that provide the supports.

We believe the right services provided to the right person at the right time are "Quality Services." The “Key”, is services that are designed to meet the individual needs of our clients. Our staff use that individualized programs, true care, and compassion to unlock success when caring for individuals with developmental disabilities. As a result, it reduces behaviors of concern, unlocks barriers, and promote quality of life and a safe place for all.

Guided by this philosophy and all conditions met, KSS opened its first client home to two young men in February 1996. We set out as people to empower other people towards a greater level of independence.

  • To design and implement flexible community inclusive programs which recognize and empower the individual towards her/his maximum potential. ​


  • To recognize and utilize individual's strengths. ​


  • To work in collaboration with Alberta Community Disabilities Services, Persons with Developmental Disabilities, and other community agencies to establish best practices and standards in the Disability Service Sector.
