OVERVIEW OF OUR SERVICES



We use positive practices to support and empower individuals and their families, towards a greater level of independence. We design individualized, flexible, community-based, services that focus on the development of social skills, daily living skills and promote health and safety. We also assist individuals in managing challenging behaviors that may pose barriers in acquiring independence and overall quality of life.

Key Support Services is dedicated to improving the quality of life of persons with disabilities and their families by providing residential and support services that enhance the individual’s quality of life.



Request for Services




All service requests are assessed individually, and services purchased are designed to meet the individual’s and their family’s needs. All requests for services are considered for individuals who meet Key Support Services’ admission criteria. Requests for services are forwarded to Disability Services.  Applications or requests for services are forwarded to the Director. An informal screening is done to ensure that the individual seeking services meet all admission criteria and that the applicant’s needs can be effectively met through the services offered by Key Support Services.

Admission Criteria



  • Primary diagnosis is a developmental disability Live in an approved home within Edmonton and surrounding area.
  • Be eligible for funding by Disability Services, a branch of the Alberta Government.
  • Have a completed Risk Assessment Analysis, including identification of behaviors of concern and possible mitigation strategies.
  • Have a current Criminal record check.
  • Have a preliminary care plan addressing the individual’s routine activities and any behavioral concerns and agreed upon behavioral approaches.
  • A Best Cues and Responses plan is developed and approved by the client and family prior to intake.
  • Agree to the service provided and have signed a service agreement. Individual's needs can be met within the scope of services we offer.
